Search Delaware County Traffic Records
The main online starting point for Delaware County traffic court records is Indiana MyCase. MyCase supports citation-number searches, case-number searches, party searches, and attorney searches. It can show public traffic, infraction, ordinance, and criminal traffic case activity from Delaware Circuit Court, Muncie City Court, Yorktown Town Court, and other Indiana courts when the record is public and has been entered in the statewide system.
For city-court citations, the Muncie City Court page directs users to MyCase for case information. The Muncie City Clerk maintains City Court records, inputs traffic infractions and ordinance violations, collects court fines and costs, and routes copy requests for City Court files. County Circuit Court traffic-related criminal matters use the Delaware County Clerk of the Circuit Courts for copies and certified records.

That city office matters because Muncie City Court citations and city payments do not all route through the county clerk counter.
Delaware County Traffic Courts
Traffic venue in Delaware County is split by the type of ticket and the issuing court. Muncie City Court has countywide geographic jurisdiction for criminal misdemeanors, state infractions, and city ordinance violations. Delaware Circuit Court handles traffic-related criminal cases when they are filed there, including more serious vehicle offenses. Yorktown Town Court is listed in the county phone resources, but the research file did not locate a current official address.

Delaware County Citation Lookup Fields
Use the number printed on the ticket when possible. A citation number is usually more exact than a name search, especially when several people share a common last name. If the case has already been assigned a court case number, MyCase can use that number too. For parking tickets, Muncie uses a separate parking payment site that searches by plate and state rather than by court case number.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes / Format |
|---|---|---|---|
| Citation Number | MyCase case-search field | Optional mode | Fastest path for many traffic citations and UTT numbers. |
| Case Number | MyCase case-search field | Optional mode | Use after the citation has a court case number. |
| Party Last Name plus First, Middle, or DOB | MyCase party search | Conditionally required | Use the driver or defendant name; broad searches are capped by result limits. |
| Attorney Number or Name | MyCase attorney search | Optional | Useful when counsel has entered an appearance. |
| License Plate | Muncie parking portal text field | Required for parking | Parking tickets only, not the court traffic case file. |
| State | Muncie parking portal dropdown | Required for parking | Select the plate state for parking ticket payment lookup. |
What Delaware County Traffic Records Show
A public Delaware County traffic court record can show the citation or case number, the court, the driver or defendant, the charge or statute, court dates, judge, plea, disposition, fine or costs, payment entries, and failure-to-appear or warrant activity if those events are part of the public court file. MyCase may also show a chronological case summary, which is Indiana's event log for filings, hearings, orders, and payments.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Citation or Case Number | The ticket or court identifier used for lookup and payment matching. |
| Charge / Statute | The infraction, ordinance, misdemeanor, OWI, or vehicle-related offense filed with the court. |
| Court Date | The hearing, trial, or payment-related appearance date. |
| Disposition | The result of the charge, such as paid, dismissed, judgment, plea, or conviction where applicable. |
| Financials | Public fines, costs, fees, restitution, bond, or payment status where shown. |
| Documents | Linked documents only when Indiana public-access rules allow online document release. |
Pay or Contest Delaware County Tickets
Payment depends on the court and ticket type. The Muncie online payments page says infractions and ordinance violations can be paid through public.courts.in.gov/Pay. It separately routes misdemeanors and probation payments through a GovPayNow location, while parking tickets use the Muncie parking portal. County Circuit Court fines and fees may be paid through the Delaware County Clerk by approved in-person, mail, or online channels.
The Indiana court payment portal used for eligible infraction and ordinance payments appears in the manifest image sourced from Indiana Courts Pay.
Use the court named on the citation before paying, because city fines are not paid at the Delaware County Clerk's Office.
- Read the citation and identify whether it belongs to Muncie City Court, Delaware Circuit Court, Yorktown Town Court, or a parking process.
- Search MyCase by citation number or party name to confirm the case, court date, and public docket activity.
- If payment is allowed, use the channel tied to that court: Indiana Courts Pay for eligible infractions or ordinances, GovPayNow for listed Muncie misdemeanor or probation payments, the county clerk for Circuit Court fines, or the Muncie parking portal for parking tickets.
- If contesting, follow the court date and contact the court or clerk before missing it. Muncie City Court lists Wednesday infraction and ordinance hearings.
- If a failure to appear is shown, check MyCase and contact the issuing court or warrant office. Bench warrants can be court-specific.
Traffic Court Records vs Driver Records
Delaware County traffic court records are court files. Indiana BMV driver records are separate state driver-history files. The City Clerk research is direct on this point: the City Clerk cannot provide personal driving records, and BMV handles driver records and suspensions through the BMV Contact Center at 888-692-6841. A paid ticket may appear in a court file before, after, or apart from a separate BMV driver-record update.
| Record Type | Source | Shows | Does Not Show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Court traffic case | MyCase, Muncie City Court, Muncie City Clerk, or Delaware Clerk | Citation, charge, court date, plea, disposition, fine, costs, warrant or failure-to-appear entries | Full driver history, license point total, or complete suspension history |
| BMV driver record | Indiana BMV | License status, driver history, suspensions, convictions, and points as maintained by BMV | Full court pleadings, judge orders, and case docket documents |
| Parking ticket record | Muncie parking payment portal and City Clerk | Open parking citations by license plate and state | Criminal or infraction court docket and BMV driver history |
Delaware County OWI and CDL Cases
OWI, DUI-style, and other serious vehicle cases usually belong with criminal court records once a prosecutor files charges. Delaware County research identifies Circuit Court as the venue for traffic-related criminal matters and notes that the Prosecuting Attorney handles criminal prosecutions and traffic/state-law infractions. For full criminal filing, plea, disposition, and sentencing records, use the Delaware County criminal court records path.
CDL and commercial-driver consequences may involve court, BMV, and federal reporting rules. The research file did not capture a Delaware-specific CDL diversion rule, so CDL holders should verify with the court and BMV before paying a ticket, seeking diversion, or assuming that a payment will avoid driver-record consequences.
Delaware County Traffic Record Copies
Public access follows Indiana's court-record rules and the Indiana Access to Public Records Act. Court records are generally public unless a statute, court rule, sealing order, expungement, juvenile restriction, or confidentiality rule limits access. If a public traffic document is not linked in MyCase, request it from the maintaining clerk rather than relying on a screenshot.
| Item | Amount or Rule |
|---|---|
| Plain court copy | $1.00 per page through the Delaware County Clerk for county records |
| Certification | $3.00 per document through the Delaware County Clerk |
| Muncie City Court copies | Use the City Court Records Request Form and City Clerk instructions |
| Driver record | Handled by Indiana BMV, not the City Clerk or county clerk |
Note: Parking tickets, city infractions, circuit fines, and BMV records use different systems, so match the record request to the office that keeps that file.
